Jan Prax Quartet @ Sparda-Bühne
Jan Prax is one of Europe's most dynamic and distinctive saxophonists. Starting out as a piano prodigy, he found his true musical voice early on in jazz and improvised music. With his quartet, he has won the Sparda Jazz Award and the Made in NY Jazz Competition, among others. On his albums Keepin' A Style Alive, Ascending and Head to the Sky, Prax combines traditional jazz language with modern intensity – influenced by his time as a protégé of saxophone idol David Sanborn and by cross-genre collaborations with hip-hop artists such as Xatar. He has played with international greats such as Kurt Rosenwinkel and Randy Brecker and interprets classical works, including Glazunov's saxophone concerto, with equal aplomb. Jan Prax thrills audiences worldwide with his fire, finesse and a sound that gets right under your skin. Good to know: Admission is subject to capacity and venue occupancy. As admission is free, it is not necessary to present a ticket. More information here!(opens in a new tab)

Lovebird Festival
Various music genres are presented and other art forms are integrated. Jazz is at the heart of the program, but it does not dominate; instead, it serves as the foundation for a wide range of new sonic combinations: jazz and hip-hop, jazz and electronic music, as well as indie, funk, and soul. The aim is to create a festival from an expanded musical offering and additional creative spaces that functions as a harmonious Gesamtkunstwerk, encouraging participation, listening, observing, and reflection. In short: a festival for the senses. The non-music program includes: a film screening at the Cinema arthouse cinema, a karaoke talk with Musikalisches Poesiealbum, a panel discussion, and a music and bird-themed city tour.
