Julian & Roman Wasserfuhr with Jörg Brinkmann @ Johanneskirche
With their album Safe Place, Julian & Roman Wasserfuhr are opening a new chapter in their joint creative endeavours. Since their debut Remember Chet (2006), the brothers have been among the defining voices of German jazz and enjoy international recognition. Their music combines virtuosity and sensitivity with a keen sense of melody and emotional depth. Safe Place stands for reduction, clarity and the power of music to touch the listener directly. Together with cellist Jörg Brinkmann, they have created a multifaceted work that ranges from quiet melancholy to euphoric expansiveness. In it, the Wasserfuhrs consistently develop their unmistakable sound – boundary-crossing, modern and deeply personal. Lovebird Festival
Various music genres are presented and other art forms are integrated. Jazz is at the heart of the program, but it does not dominate; instead, it serves as the foundation for a wide range of new sonic combinations: jazz and hip-hop, jazz and electronic music, as well as indie, funk, and soul. The aim is to create a festival from an expanded musical offering and additional creative spaces that functions as a harmonious Gesamtkunstwerk, encouraging participation, listening, observing, and reflection. In short: a festival for the senses. The non-music program includes: a film screening at the Cinema arthouse cinema, a karaoke talk with Musikalisches Poesiealbum, a panel discussion, and a music and bird-themed city tour.
