Nils Kugelmann Trio @ Goethe-Museum
Life Score (ACT) is the soundtrack to a cinematic, still relatively young life in which an almost fairy-tale amount has happened. Berlin-based bassist Nils Kugelmann, originally from Munich, has risen to become one of the shooting stars of German jazz in record time, has been showered with well-deserved awards, and has given both critics and audiences the impression that he is here to stay and will advance jazz with his verve, enthusiasm, skill, and insatiable curiosity. Following his acclaimed debut album Stormy Beauty (ACT), which was promptly nominated for the German Record Critics' Award and entered the European jazz charts, Kugelmann is now touring nationally and internationally with his new album. This new programme penned by Kugelmann manages more than ever to touch and entertain the audience and get them nodding their heads. Melodies that inspire meet harmonies that stay with you. And always audible: Kugelmann's love of groove. Or quite simply ‘music that gets under your skin.’ (SWR) ‘What wonderfully groovy, rousing and positive music.’ BR Klassik ‘Someone is taking off in leaps and bounds.’ Jazzthing ‘All the tracks are true masterpieces.’ Paris Move (FR) Nils Kugelmann (bass, composition) Luca Zambito (piano) Sebastian Wolfgruber (drums) More info here!(opens in a new tab)

Lovebird Festival
Various music genres are presented and other art forms are integrated. Jazz is at the heart of the program, but it does not dominate; instead, it serves as the foundation for a wide range of new sonic combinations: jazz and hip-hop, jazz and electronic music, as well as indie, funk, and soul. The aim is to create a festival from an expanded musical offering and additional creative spaces that functions as a harmonious Gesamtkunstwerk, encouraging participation, listening, observing, and reflection. In short: a festival for the senses. The non-music program includes: a film screening at the Cinema arthouse cinema, a karaoke talk with Musikalisches Poesiealbum, a panel discussion, and a music and bird-themed city tour.
